E-Thought for July 9, 2009

Good Day Fellow Vending Enthusiasts. I hope that everyone is using the Blog to it's full potential. You should find a plethora of useful information here and if there is something that you cannot find, please don't hesitate to call one of us here at Vend NW and we will find the answers you are looking for.
I want to use this E-Thought to tell you a little about myself, my way of thinking and how I came to find a home here at Vend NW Dist.
In 1996 I had been working for Coca-Cola Enterprises for five years following an 8 year stint serving my country in the US Army. Myself and two co-workers decided to purchase the vending company that serviced the machines at Coca-Cola where we worked.
At the time we purchased the company it was currently purchasing it's wares at both Vend Products (now Vistar)(now Performance Food Group) and Sea-Fresh Co (now Vend NW Dist). We continued with this practice until we got to know Steve Fischer better and decided loyalty and trust was much more valuable to us than "shopping" price.
After about a year of owning the vending company, I started having marital problems(as I'm sure that anyone who OWNS a vending company can relate to). Anyway, divorce soon followed and in seeking full custody of my then 4 and 2 year old I found that working 16 hours a day at the vending company would not be beneficial to my children, I solicited employment from Steve.
Steve agreed to give me a job while one of his employees was backpacking across Europe for 3 months. This was in 1996(wholly crap it has been a LONG 3 months!!!)
At that time we had Steve and Linda's 1984 Astro van to use for deliveries and a warehouse the size of my current garage!!!
I have never met anyone as dedicated, trustworthy, hard working or caring as Steve Fischer. If I hadn't bought that vending company and met him, I am certain I would not be the proud and honorable man that I am today.( OK, let me crawl out of Steve's backside now) It is true though.
So fast forward 13 years and we now have 6 semi trucks a 20,000 sq foot warehouse(and looking for more) and provide the best customer service from Port Orchard,WA down to Grants Pass, Or and across to Spokane.
I wanted to tell you guys about me in the hopes that we may come to find that we share some "common ground" as i have not gone to school or formal training for any of my current positions, i have to rely on my instincts and what works for me(i have taken seminars and classes and read books) and i find what works best for me is Open Communication(good or bad) as long as I/we have this i truly believe that there is nothing that cannot be accomplished.
Anyway you guys, that is basically my Career Life Story. Like i said, i hope that some of you read this and find that we do share some "common Ground" and can start and continue to have Great Open Communication....................There is Nothing that we cannot do!!! Enjoy our Blog and come here often!!!!

Regards

Curt Wokal
